When do you need them?

You woke up one morning and looked at your wallclock. The hour hand and the minute hand are exactly where they should be and you said to yourself "It's time to have some good breakfast". Just as usual you stretch your arms and went to the kitchen to get a slice of ham, a cheese and a pair of sliced bread to make some mouth watering sandwhich and a hot coffee with sweet aroma to fight the cold morning breeze. Then you went to your front porch to pick up the sunday newspaper, sat on a bench in a garden in front of your house. You took a bite of your delicisous sandwhich, sipped the sweet coffee, crossed your leg and leaned back a bit to feel the relaxing weekend. Everything went ok however when you tried to look at the headlines of the newspaper it somehow looked a little strange. You put the newspaper closer to get a clear vision but the letters were more blurry, you put the paper far away to see it clearly, although the headlines now were readable however the fontsize of the articles where too small to be read at that distance. Then you made a big "SIGH" and said to yourself "Well I'm still 41 but I think i'm getting older".

Anatomy of the Eye

Presbyopia

The fact is when a person reaches it's 40's their eyesight starts to change. Loosing the elasticity in the crystalline lens of the eye and the weakening of the ciliary muscles somehow reduces the focus-adjusting ability which causes blurred vision, a symptom of aging called Presbyopia or "Farsightedness". We should never panic but rather accept the fact that it is part of the aging process. Well the truth is we're not getting younger either. The first thing we should do is to have an eye test before we get a nice pair of reading eye glasses. Not to make us look older but a stylish or cool reading eyewear to make us look young and feel young again.
